The spiritual ambiance was filled with the rhythmic beats of dhol-nagadas (traditional drums) and chants of “Har Har Mahadev”. On this auspicious day, devotees are experiencing live darshan of Baba Kedarnath, with special decorations making the site even more magnificent.

Char Dham Yatra 2025 Begins – Kedarnath Mandir Crowds Managed with Token System

With the Char Dham Yatra 2025 officially beginning on April 30 (Akshaya Tritiya), the gates of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples have already been opened. Badrinath Temple will open next on May 4th.

Due to the massive influx of pilgrims expected—over 2.5 million visitors from June to August, according to officials—a token system has been introduced for the first time at Kedarnath to efficiently manage the crowds and reduce long waiting times.

Under this system, 10 token counters have been set up at the Sangam point. Each hour, 1,400 devotees will be allowed entry into the temple. Pilgrims are advised to collect tokens in advance and join the darshan line just 15 minutes before their allocated slot.

Rituals and Traditions of Kedarnath Mandir Opening

Kedarnath Mandir Opens 2025 and follows centuries-old traditions. The temple remains closed during the harsh winter and reopens in summer with elaborate Vedic rituals. The idol of Lord Kedarnath, which is kept at Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath during the winter months, is ceremonially brought back and installed in Kedarnath prior to the opening.

As the temple doors open, the first puja is performed by priests in the presence of temple officials and pilgrims. Devotees chant “Baba Kedarnath ki Jai”, marking the spiritual beginning of the yatra season.
